Myoats – An Addictive Drawing Tool

First of all, Happy New Year, dear readers! May the year 2008 bring lots of happiness and success for you and your close ones!

I’ve recently been taking rest from blogging but still active on a few social bookmarking sites, including StumbleUpon. Yesterday I stumbled upon Myoats, a website that allows you to create simple or complex designs, shapes and patterns. Here is an example of what you can draw in 2-3 minutes:

myoat

See? I was just testing the tool and it took me less than 3 minutes to draw this. This tool is pretty addictive and can be pretty useful for your next design projects. Me? I’m gonna use this tool mainly to create complex patterns and futuristic designs. The designs that you create using Myoats can be:

  • Downloaded as an image.
  • Downloaded as a transparent png.
  • Saved to your personal account, which allows for editing and re-saving.
  • Made into a wallpaper

The re-saving feature allows you to edit an existing drawing and save it as a new file. The site also allows you to rate designs drawn by other designers. Oh, the site is free to use so feel free to join and draw as much as you like.

5000 Web 2.0 Logos in 333 Seconds [Video]

SimpleSpark Logo

In this past June, I wrote about Simple Spark, the Web 2.0 catalog site. SimpleSpark had more than 3000 web apps in June itself. Today, Read/Write Web reported that the company now indexes 5000 Web apps. To celebrate their milestone, the folks at SimpleSpark created a video showing the logos of all 5,000 companies in 333 seconds:

Sites like Go2Web2.0 and SimpleSpark show us how rapidly the Web 2.0 industry is growing.

1 x 6 = 1, The Magic of a Coffee Table!

Add Reflection To Your Images Using JavaScript

Reflection.js 1.6 allows you to add reflections to images on your Web pages. It uses unobtrusive JavaScript to keep your code clean.

It works in all the major browsers – Internet Explorer 5.5+, Mozilla Firefox 1.5+, Opera 9+ and Safari. On older browsers, it’ll degrade and your visitors won’t notice a thing. Best of all, it’s under 5KB.

Benefits of Using Reflections.js:

  • Fast and easy to implement. Just add class=”reflect” to the image and you’re good to go.
  • Don’t need to spend time in an image editor creating reflections.
  • Works really well with forum avatars. Doesn’t require additional server work.
  • It’s dead easy to change the opacity and height of the reflections.
  • The reflections can respond to user action.

Examples:

Take a normal image:

It is also possible to vary the height and the opacity of the reflections:

Hint: Use this method only when it’s necessary. I recommend to avoid JavaScript as much as possible.

FEED Styler Plugin for WordPress: Give Your Feeds A Style!

FEED Styler

Developed by the awesome people @ Devlounge, FEED Styler is a really really great plugin for WordPress users who want to stylize their RSS feeds!

What is Feed Styler?

Feed Styler is a WordPress plugin for WordPress users who are comfortable with CSS and would like to be able to style their feeds. Feed Styler enables you to keep your existing class and ID style declarations in your content, but allows a different style to be applied to the feed of that same content. No longer do feeds have to be stripped of style and color.

Who is Feed Styler For?

Feed Styler is for those that use WordPress, are comfortable with CSS, and would like to be able to use their existing markup to style their feeds. Feed Styler is very effective at styling images, blockquotes, and much more. If you are a hand coder and familiar with CSS, Feed Styler will be very intuitive.

This plugin is not for CSS beginners, and not for those that rely on WordPress’s WYSIWYG for content appearance. This plugin is also not for those who have the opinion that feeds should be void of style.

  • Set ColorPix to launch when Windows starts up.
