MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 8.1.1 review

Can’t save more files to a specified partition for it has been full? Can’t boot computer due to MBR damage? Lose a partition because of mistaken deletion? All these problems can be well solved by the partitioning tool MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition whose latest version is 8.1.1. Here, let’s talk about this program in 4 aspects.

Graphical User Interface

Unlike diskpart or other command centered tools, MiniTool Partition Wizard provides friendly and concise user interface, which makes partitioning operations realized more easily. Take the main interface for example.

The main interface is with functions on the left, toolbar on the top, and drive information on the right so that users can choose the problem partition to manage with ease. Moreover, detailed prompts are given in every interface to show users specific operations.

Outstanding Functions in MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 8.1.1

To make partitioning operations such as delete partition, format partition, and change drive letter, we can use Disk Management (of course Windows Vista or later Windows OS gives us chance to extend or shrink a NTFS partition, but you will find both functions cannot work well in most situations). And if users want to complete some advanced operations like wipe partition, copy partition, and move partition, most third party partitioning programs are feasible. That is to say these are not outstanding features of MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 8.1.1, and Extend Partition, Align Partition(s), and Partition Recovery are what we plan to talk today.

Extend Partition: extend both FAT partition and NTFS partition in one step no matter whether there is unallocated or free space contiguous.

extend partition

From the Extend Partition interface we know we can take unused space from one of existing partitions on the same disk to extend the target partition, and we can also decide how much space to take.

Align Partition: partition alignment is much related to SSD. Once partitions on SSD are not aligned, computer running speed and data read-write speed will be reduced. Partition Wizard Home Edition 8.1.1 makes partition alignment realized also in one step.

partition recovery

Partition Recovery: it recovers mistakenly deleted partition, restores partition lost due to virus attack and wrong ghost, etc. Note: users should remember to check all needed partitions in the following interface, including existing partitions and lost partitions, because unchecked partitions will be lost.

MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 8.1.1 Bootable CD

As we know, common partitioning tools will be useless when Windows can not boot, let alone perform partition operations. Nevertheless, Partition Wizard Home Edition offers a bootable CD which can boot computer without operating system and enter Partition Wizard so as to make corresponding changes. For example, when our computer cannot boot since MBR has been damaged, we can rebuild MBR with Partition Wizard Bootable CD. Nevertheless, bootable CD is just an iso file, so users need to burn it to CD or DVD at first.

Some Limitations of MiniToo Partition Wizard Home Edition 8.1.1

Disappointingly, Partition Wizard Home Edition does not support Windows dynamic disk. For dynamic disk support, professional edition is needed at least. Moreover, it can not be compatible with Windows Server. For server support, server edition should be employed at least.
